Social Work Services
Oncology social workers are part of the cancer center team and can assist patients, families, and caregivers as they meet the challenge of a cancer diagnosis.
We can help you:
- Cope with your diagnosis of cancer and the many emotions you may be experiencing
- Apply for programs that may offer financial assistance
- Connect with other cancer and health care organizations’ programs
- Access home health care, hospice care, medical equipment
- Understand disability, social security benefits and advance care planning
- Obtain information about support groups and provide individual and family counseling
We can teach you about:
- How to communicate with your health care team
- Talking with your children, family, friends or co-workers
- Reduce stress by using relaxation skills
- How cancer effects intimacy, identity issues, your relationship with your body
- Integrative medicine
- Living beyond the cancer diagnosis and common survivorship concerns
There is no charge for these services. You can contact the social worker directly or through the staff. Our Licensed Clinical Social Worker is available Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5 PM.
