Women's Health and Pelvic Floor Therapy
At Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville, we are fully committed to addressing the needs of our patients throughout their lifecycle. Because of this, we offer care to both women and men specially designed for their unique physical and emotional needs.
Special Therapies for Women
For many women, pregnancy, labor and delivery are life-changing events that require expert, compassionate care. Other women may be in need of specialized surgeries over the course of their life, including hysterectomy (the removal of the uterus).
We are proud to be the only provider in the area to offer specialized therapies for women. These therapies address common female issues that can be overlooked and underdiagnosed.
Some of our specialized therapies for women include:
- Sacroiliac (joint where the hip and spine meet) realignment post-pregnancy
- Lumbar (lower back) issues post-pregnancy
- Special needs post-hysterectomy

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
Pelvic floor dysfunction affects many women after labor and childbirth. Additionally, pelvic disorders can affect other members of the population, including men and children.
Pelvic floor disorders are usually caused by lack of muscle control and coordination in the lower pelvic area. Pelvic problems can be managed with the help of a specialized pelvic floor physical therapist.
Common pelvic floor disorders may include:
- Pelvic pain
- Difficulty urinating
- Incontinence (difficulty with bowel movements)
- Problems related to pregnancy and labor
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville offers free pelvic screenings and physical therapy specific to pelvic disorders.
Our board certified physical therapist, Sandi Walker, PT, DPT, BCB-PMD, has undergone extensive training in pelvic floor therapy through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She recently became board certified for Biofeedback (specialized therapy that uses sensors to gather information about your body) with Pelvic Muscle Dysfunctions.
Currently, Sandi has made the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, elimination disorders and incontinence the focus of her practice.
